In line with its commitment to support its workforce and urge them to embrace a healthy lifestyle and foster a sense of team spirit, The Sultan Center on the occasion of “World No Tobacco Day”, joined hands on May 31st and launched an awareness campaign for TSC staff regarding the dangers of smoking and using tobacco products.
Launched under the theme of “Be Brighter and Put Down The Lighter!” the anti-tobacco campaign aimed at raising awareness and creating an understanding about the harmful effects of tobacco products on one’s health and those around them. Our employees across the country were asked to refrain from smoking for a period of 3 days to support this initiative.
To further encourage our staff to quit smoking, TSC designed a creative contest whereby all TSC staff had an opportunity to create posters showcasing the impact of smoking on one’s health and reasons for quitting this habit. The posters were then displayed at TSC Head Office and posted on TSC’s Facebook account, allowing family and friends to cast their vote for the best poster. By the end of the campaign, Mr. Rizny Mohamed Rajabdeen from Fahaheel Store grabbed the 1st prize for the World No Tobacco Day Poster Making Competition 2016. Replenishment Team of Commercial Foreign Department got the 2nd prize while Mr. Muhammed Farooq from Financial Control Department got the 3rd prize. The “People’s Choice Award” was awarded to Replenishment Team of Commercial Foreign Department; their poster received the highest number of likes on TSC’s Facebook account.
TSC staff displayed a great sense of commitment, determination and team spirit in taking a stand towards creating a tobacco free generation across the stores and head office.
Commenting on TSC’s initiative, Hani Ismail – Group Human Resources Director for TSC said: “Our employees are valuable to us; we profoundly believe they are the cornerstone of TSC’s success therefore maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to us ”. He added: ,“The anti-tobacco campaign is another milestone in TSC’s plan to secure a healthy working environment for its employees to help them increase their productivity and save the cost associated with tobacco use while most importantly we wanted them to get engaged in this campaign and be TSC partners in helping promote a tobacco-free world”.
