Driven by its commitment in raising awareness about nutrition and healthy eating habits The Sultan Center has partnered with renowned nutritionist Nadine Al-Jawhary during Back to School season, launching a Little Chef competition among children. The competition was geared towards teaching children the importance of making healthy food choices for a well-balanced diet in building a healthy lunch box by mixing and matching items, plus recipes and advice on food safety.
Children who participated in the event dressed in little chef costumes and were excited to learn about preparing new recipes that they could make at home and pack in their lunch boxes, to make snack time more fun. During the event Nutritionist Nadine assisted children in the preparation of the recipes and advised them on the importance of incorporating protein, dairy, fruit and vegetables into their daily meals.
As the event came to a close each participant was given a lunch box and asked to select items in order to prepare their own healthy snack, by mixing and matching nutritional food from all 4 food categories. Each lunch box was then reviewed to ensure the box contained healthy food choices; at the end of the event children were awarded certificates for having taken part in the competition.
According to Lisa Al Gharib/ Marketing Manager at TSC said; “we are extremely glad to partner with Nutritionist Nadine and by creating this activity we aim to spread awareness on the importance and benefits of eating a well-balanced diet among the younger generation”.
